Final Fantasy Magi
Ixion is one of the legendary companions of Ramuh, the lightning lord. Ixion pulls the Carriage of Enlightening Thunder across the heavens during thunderstorms, allowing Ramuh to sleep and dream the dreams that create the power of thunder while Gaelbog, Ramuh’s other companion, drops the dreams of thunder that Ramuh creates. Ixion represents Ramuh’s hand of Loyalty, and is said to be the lightning god’s most stalwart and constant companion throughout all of his tales. Ixion appears to be a massive white stallion caught in an enormous cage of twisted iron that covers his entire body. Bolts of energy arc across the metal in chaotic bursts, webbing down his ribs and legs with each step he takes. Atop his head is a long, spiraled iron horn, of which his shock lance ladders off of during combat.
Ixion’s most famous tale involves the poisoning of Ramuh by Gaelbolg. In the end of the story, as Ramuh lies dying, accidentally poisoned by the touch of a pure woman that Gaelbolg had allowed upon the Carriage of Enlightening Thunder, Ixion sucks the blood from Ramuh and spits the poison into an ivory urn before transfusing his master with the blood from Ixion’s stomach. Later, this ivory urn is used in another tale as a vessel to contain Typhon, positing that Ixion’s blood bile had hardened and made the urn an invincible vessel to contain even the most powerful gale winds.
